Art Explorium is a community arts center in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands offering art education for children and adults of all skill levels. Amy Gibbs is a passionate art teacher offering instruction in a fun, safe, nurturing environment where process, exploration, curiosity, and imagination are cultivated and encouraged.
Amy hosts art workshops and events for adults in addition to art classes in her St. Thomas art studio. She teaches art workshops at the University of the Virgin Islands on St. Thomas, as well as various themed art classes, skill-building sessions and workshops on St. John and St. Croix. Private and specialty art classes, events and workshops can be arranged by request. The eagerly anticipated annual Art Explorium Children’s Summer Art Camp is open to children aged 6-18, and runs from June – August in one week sessions based on age group.
After School Art Program
Art Explorium offers art classes for children ages 6 to 18. Artist and teacher Amy Gibbs helps kids explore their creativity and artistic selves in a fun, nurturing environment. Kids are exposed to the fundamentals of fine art and a wide variety of media and artists. Believing art is for everyone, Amy routinely organizes fundraising events for scholarships to her art program and offers art mentorship, assistance and guidance to the under-served youth of the Virgin Islands.
Developing Young Artists
Art Explorium supports talented young artists serious about art as a career develop their skills and work towards achieving their artistic goals and aspirations. Amy serves as teacher and mentor to these gifted students, devoting time, energy, and guidance towards achieving their dreams as artists.
Enhance Your Skills
Art Explorium adult art classes helps you develop your artistic skills and creative ability. Amy offers individual and group visual arts classes for adults focusing on different media and techniques. Open to adults of any age and level of ability, Art Explorium offers adults an opportunity to learn, grow, and satisfy their creative impulse.
- Adult art classes are by appointment only
- Duration is typically 2 hours
- Project can be new or an existing student project
- Basic tools and materials included. Special materials, tools, etc. are additional, or students can bring their own
- Cost of class: $125.00 per session, minimum 2 people per class
- Group classes are available by request. Price is dependent on the number of people and project.

Scholarships & Donations
Scholarships are available for Art Explorium’s After School Art Program for children between the ages of 6 to 18 who exhibit a desire to further their studies in art. We are grateful to have received generous donations from individuals and organizations such as the Rotary Sunrise, VI Council on the Arts, Vibe Jewelry, and Art VI Advocates that have enabled children to attend our programs.
